Rayhall, Stewart and Carroll among Championship Winners as Prestigious Summer Shootout Series Closes 18th Season
As America’s most prestigious grassroots Legend Car and Bandolero racing series came to a close, seven first-time division champions entered the history books with the conclusion of the 18th annual Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
In the chase for the Legend Car Pro division championship, Sean Rayhall, of Austell, Ga., entered the evening 103 points ahead of defending titlist Tyler Green, of China Grove, N.C.
Rayhall, started the race on the pole position with Green right on his bumper. With nothing to lose, Green looked to slip inside of Rayhall before the first lap had been completed on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval. Green finally completed the pass for the lead on Lap 3, forcing Rayhall to the outside where he quickly fell to fifth place.
